Islamabad: Islamabad’s business community hosted a dinner reception on Tuesday to bid farewell to outgoing Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk and welcome his successor Kainat Azhar Khan, pledging continued cooperation on traffic management and civic facilitation.

The event, hosted by former ICCI president and Ahsan Bakhtawari, was attended by office-bearers of Islamabad and Rawalpindi chambers of commerce, market presidents, senior police officials and leading traders, says a press release.

Welcoming the guests, Ahsan Bakhtawari, CEO of D. Watson Group lauded Virk’s tenure, saying he maintained “excellent coordination with the business community” and helped resolve traffic and market-related issues in Islamabad’s commercial centres. He expressed confidence that Kainat Khan would uphold the same spirit of public service and cooperation for traders and citizens. He also thanked Mir Waiz Khan for attending and acknowledged the contributions of Jameel Hashmi to the welfare of the business community.

Chairman Founder Group Sheikh Tariq Sadiq said such engagements strengthened understanding between stakeholders and were vital for effective civic management.In his farewell remarks, Virk described the business community as “the backbone of the national economy” and said he had tried to provide the best possible solutions to traders during his tenure.

He assured continued support and expressed confidence in Kainat Khan’s “dedication and professionalism”.Addressing the gathering, the incoming CTO said effective traffic management required mutual cooperation between the administration and citizens.

ICCI Police Committee Chairman Saifur Rehman Khan congratulated Kainat Khan on taking charge and pledged the business community’s full cooperation. Rawalpindi Chamber Chairman Group Sohail Altaf said the business leadership had “great expectations” from the new CTO and reiterated that traders were law-abiding and supportive of initiatives aimed at improving public convenience.
