Islamabad:Federal Secretary Housing and Works, Captain (r) Muhammad Mahmood on Tuesday chaired a meeting to discuss pace of development activities on the ongoing projects of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).

The meeting deliberated on various initiatives aimed at providing greater facilitation and improved services to the allottees of FGEHA housing schemes. Secretary Housing & Works directed that a comprehensive and practical policy framework be developed between FGEHA and commercial banks to enable maximum utilization of housing finance facilities of up to Rs10 million under the Prime Minister’s “Apna Ghar Scheme.” Special emphasis was placed on devising suitable financing mechanisms for retired allottees to ensure their inclusion in the scheme.

The Secretary stressed that the proposed policy should simplify the process of obtaining housing loans and be transparent, accessible, and user-friendly, enabling allottees to construct and own their homes with minimum financial burden.

Under the proposed mechanism, banks would make the required payments on behalf of the allottees, who would subsequently repay the financing through convenient installments. The initiative is aimed at facilitating allottees and making home ownership more affordable and attainable.

In addition, the Secretary Housing & Works sought detailed briefings from the heads of all ongoing FGEHA projects regarding the status and progress of development activities. He instructed all concerned officials to accelerate the pace of work, ensure transparency in project execution, and take effective measures to strengthen the confidence of allottees.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Housing & Works and FGEHA to the principles of public service, transparency, and timely completion of projects, emphasizing their continued efforts to improve the housing sector and enhance service delivery.

The Secretary expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Director General FGEHA Captain (r) Zafar Iqbal, the authority will further improve its performance, strengthen institutional efficiency, and continue to play a vital role in the development of Pakistan’s housing sector while meeting the expectations of its stakeholders.
