Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday visited Jahangir Road to inspect the ongoing development and reconstruction work being carried out by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
Officials said that during the inspection, the mayor reviewed work on the second section of Jahangir Road and directed the relevant officials to ensure that both the quality and pace of construction are maintained so that the project can be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Barrister Wahab said the reconstruction work on the second section of the road has almost been completed, with only finishing touches remaining. He noted that traffic flow on the road has improved significantly and that efforts are being made to provide citizens with safer and more comfortable travel facilities.
He highlighted that Jahangir Road falls under the jurisdiction of the federal government, but the KMC has undertaken its reconstruction in the interest of the city’s residents. He added that special fibre manhole covers have been installed along the road to prevent theft and ensure long-term durability.
Barrister Wahab announced that unnecessary overhead cables along Jahangir Road would be removed as part of the beautification and infrastructure improvement efforts. He said upgrades to streetlights and the road’s green belt are also planned to enhance the area’s appearance and improve public convenience.
Emphasizing the city administration’s commitment to development, the mayor stated that infrastructure projects are progressing rapidly across Karachi’s districts and that every effort is being made to improve civic facilities for residents.
