Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday announced good news for the people of Karachi, stating that a large number of double-decker and electric buses would arrive in the city this year and they would be introduced on various routes across the city in phases.
In a statement issued to the media, the senior minister said that the provincial government was working swiftly to modernise the public transport system. Following the success of the Peoples Bus Service, the government was now launching a significant number of electric and double-decker buses to further improve public transportation facilities.
He said that the Sindh government’s plans extend beyond transport, as they were shaping the future of Karachi. The EV buses would not only be environmentally friendly but would also provide affordable and comfortable travel for commuters.
Memon further stated that the addition of more double-decker buses would enhance the city’s beauty and give a new identity to its transport culture. He added that this initiative by the Sindh government was not merely an increase in the number of buses but a new beginning in Karachi’s journey towards becoming a modern and well-connected metropolis.
