LAHORE:Punjab Traffic Police issued more than 280,000 driving licences of various categories across the province during the past two weeks following directives from DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir.
According to a spokesperson, the figure includes over 88,000 learner licences and more than 95,000 regular licences, while around 93,000 licences were renewed. Traffic Police also issued over 1,700 international driving permits during the period.
More than 40,000 citizens availed online services for licence-related facilities. DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir said driving without a valid licence is a legal offence and warned that strict action is being taken against violators.
SP City Atif Ameer paid a surprise late-night visit to Shafiqabad Police Station to inspect security arrangements, operational procedures and public service delivery.During the visit, he reviewed station records, checked compliance with standard operating procedures and inspected lock-up conditions. He also met detainees and inquired about any issues they faced.
The SP directed officers to remain vigilant and perform their duties responsibly. He also reviewed cleanliness standards and record management, stressing the need for transparency and prompt redressal of public complaints.
