LANDIKOTAL: Unidentified militants blew up an abandoned police post with explosives on Kam Shalman Road in Landikotal tehsil, police officials said on Sunday.

The officials said that the powerful blast at the Arkhanda post, located on Kam Shalman road, occurred on Saturday night. The officials said that no casualties were reported as the post had remained closed and inactive for nearly four years.

The blast comes amid a recent surge in militant activities and targeted attacks in Landikotal and other parts of Khyber district. In recent weeks, the area has witnessed several security incidents, including attacks on security installations, targeted killings, and shootings by unidentified armed men.

Recently, a journalist, Sayem Khan Afridi, was attacked by unknown armed assailants near his residence in Sultankhel village in Landikotal, where he narrowly escaped the attack. In another incident, two locals were killed in a targeted shooting in the area.The residents have expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation and called for effective measures to restore peace in the region.
