Punjab to host country’s biggest sports event in Oct

LAHORE : Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department is going to organize country’s biggest sports event in October in which more than 50 lakh male and female students from different educational institutions will participate. The prize money worth crores of rupees will be distributed among the successful players. Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar shared this information while talking to media at the inaugural ceremony of Youth Cricket Super League at the Nawab Town Cricket Stadium on Friday night.

DG Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Chief Coordinator Malik Haseeb Irfan Khokhar, Chairman UC 256 Mian M Awais, Chief Coordinator PP-167 Rao Sadaqat and a large number of sports enthusiasts were also present on this occasion.

A total of 36 teams from different union councils of PP-167 are participating in the three-day tournament. Spectacular horse dance was also presented at the opening ceremony. Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Youth Cricket Super League is a special gift from CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz to the youth of this constituency. “Punjab Sports Department is organizing several sports events in line with the vision of CM Punjab “.

He further said that it is our common responsibility to bring the youth to the sports fields. “All segments of society especially parents should play their due role in this regard.”

He said that the Nawab Town Sports Complex is equipped with modern facilities including indoor gym, cricket practice pitches, top standard grounds, separate facilities for women and solar panels. “The Punjab government is promoting similar modern sports infrastructure throughout the province to attract the youth towards positive sports activities”.
