ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based weekly inflation increased by 0.16 per cent during the week ended on June 11, 2026 for the combined consumption group, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Friday.

According to PBS data, SPI for the week under review declined to 356.11 points as compared to 355.55 points recorded in the previous week.

On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the SPI increased by 15.06 per cent.

The weekly SPI with base year 2015-16=100 covers 17 urban centres and 51 essential items for all expenditure groups.

The SPI for the lowest consumption group (up to Rs17,732) increased by 0.19 per cent to 337.25 points from 336.62 points.

The SPI for consumption groups of Rs17,733-22,888; Rs22,889-29,517, Rs29,518-44,175 and above Rs44,175 it increased by 0.12 per cent, 0.11 per cent; 0.08 per cent and 0.2 per cent, respectively.

During the week, out of 51 items, prices of 12 (23.53 per cent) items increased, 11 (21.57 per cent) items decreased and 28 (54.9 per cent) items remained stable.

On a week-on-week basis (WoW), the items that witnessed decline in prices included eggs (9.62 per cent), chicken (5.73 per cent), onions (4.61 per cent), petrol (1.04 per cent), garlic (0.98 per cent), pulse mash (0.23 per cent), wheat flour (0.21 per cent), bananas (0.19 per cent) and mustard oil (0.17 per cent).

On the other hand, major increase was observed in the prices of tomatoes (35.39 per cent), LPG (11.03 per cent), potatoes (1.04 per cent), cigarettes (0.46 per cent), vegetable ghee 2.5 kg (0.4 per cent), cooking oil 5 litre (0.27 per cent), vegetable ghee 1kg (0.24 per cent), milk fresh (0.21 per cent) and gur & bread (0.1 per cent) each.

On a YoY basis, the items that witnessed decline in prices included potatoes (42.79 per cent), eggs (34.17 per cent), pulse gram (22.56 per cent), sugar (15.71 per cent), salt powder (13.26 per cent), pulse masoor (12.07 per cent), chicken (7.35 per cent) and pulse moong (4.66 per cent).

Major increase was recorded in the prices of onions (85.43 per cent), LPG (74.45 per cent), wheat flour (59.62 per cent), electricity charges for Q1 (59.4 per cent), diesel (49.63 per cent), petrol (49.03 per cent), tomatoes (36.4 per cent), mutton (15.73 per cent), chilies powder (15.2 per cent), beef (12.87 per cent), garlic (12.41 per cent) and bread (8.66 per cent).
