ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allied parties on Thursday decided to protest inside and outside the legislature during the entire budget session to press for medical treatment of jailed party’s founder chairman Imran Khan, access to his family and doctors and permission to talk with his sons.
The unanimous decision was taken on the eve of budget presentation in the National Assembly during a joint parliamentary party meeting, which was attended by Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mehmood Khan Achakzai, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Aamir Dogar and other parliamentarians.
After the meeting, which continued for four and a half hours here at the Parliament House, Barrister Gohar told the media that they had a one-point agenda concerning the PTI founder chairman. “We have just one demand that Imran Khan should have access to his doctors and family members, and he should also have access to his sons for conversation. There can be no compromise on this,” he made clear.
In the meeting, he explained, they unanimously decided to stage protests inside the assembly and outside daily during the budget session to reiterate their demands about Imran Khan, which were in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
The PTI chairman also noted that the meeting strongly condemned the suspension of their MNA, Iqbal Afridi, for the entire budget session.
Responding to a question, he said that they were happy over the apex court’s decision in their leader’s favour. Gohar said that if more verdicts are announced against Imran Khan, then this would add to the hatred among the people.
Earlier, in an informal chat with journalists, Gohar feared that this would not be a people-friendly budget, as inflation is already high.
