The Sindh government on Tuesday decided to establish a one-window facilitation desk at New Sabzi Mandi to streamline transport-related services and improve access for commercial and freight operators in Karachi.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Department on Tuesday, which directed relevant authorities to expedite the operationalisation of the facility.

Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said the initiative aimed to provide transporters with a single point of access for essential regulatory services, including route permits, vehicle fitness certificates and other documentation.

He said the facility would help eliminate delays and reduce bureaucratic hurdles by allowing transport operators to complete multiple processes under one roof. According to the minister, the government planned to integrate a large number of commercial and goods transport vehicles into a digital and automated system by June 30, 2026, as part of broader reforms in the transport sector.

Memon added that the facilitation desk was expected to become operational this week, with arrangements underway for staff deployment, infrastructure setup and public awareness measures. He said the initiative reflected the provincial government’s push toward digitisation and improved service delivery, particularly in sectors involving frequent public interaction.

Officials noted that the system would reduce the need for repeated visits to government offices, saving both time and operational costs for transporters. The project was expected to benefit thousands of transport operators using Karachi’s key commercial routes and logistics hubs, while improving transparency and efficiency in transport regulation.
