The recent acid attack on a female doctor in Civil Hospital, Quetta has, once again, highlighted the serious security challenges faced by female healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to healing people. Doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers often work long hours under stressful conditions. Their safety should be our greatest priority. Such incidents not only endanger individuals but also discourage talented women from pursuing careers in the healthcare sector. This incident must not be treated as just another headline that fades with time. Similar acts of violence have occurred in the past, yet meaningful change remains elusive. The authorities must strengthen security arrangements at healthcare facilities and create a safe working environment for all medical professionals. A society that fails to protect its healers weakens one of its most vital pillars.
