CHITRAL: The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hussain Khan, on Monday praised the natural beauty and scenic landscapes of Chitral, terming the both districts as a region with significant potential for tourism and trade.
Speaking to media representatives and business leaders at a local here, the high commissioner expressed his commitment to promoting Chitral’s tourism and investment opportunities among Bangladeshi tourists and investors.
He said that he first became interested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after attending a national exhibition where he was impressed by the province’s culture and natural attractions.This interest, he added, later prompted him to visit several destinations across the province, including tourist sites in both Lower and Upper Chitral.
Iqbal Hussain Khan said that a number of products originating from Chitral could attract the attention of Bangladeshi investors and businesses. He also highlighted the restoration of direct flights between Karachi and Dhaka as a positive indication of strengthening ties and growing cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The high commissioner said he firmly believed that Chitral possessed immense untapped potential in both tourism and trade, and pledged to continue efforts aimed at maximising these opportunities for mutual benefit.
According to him, fostering closer people-to-people connections between the two friendly countries remains one of his top priorities, and introducing Chitral’s unique landscapes to a wider international audience would be an important step in that direction.
Press Counsellor Tayyab Ali and other diplomats were also present on the occasion.During the event, the high commissioner presented souvenirs to Chitral Press Club President Zahiruddin and Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Trade secretary general Sultan Ahmad Baig.
