MINGORA: Three persons, including the son, nephew and bodyguard of local transporter Afzal Gujar, were killed in a firing incident by unidentified gunmen in the Shakardara area of Matta tehsil in Swat.
According to a spokesperson for the Swat Police, Afzal Gujar also sustained injuries in the firing, who was shifted to a hospital immediately after the attack where he was receiving medical treatment.
The police said that upon receiving information about the incident, law personnel rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.The three deceased were later laid to rest in their native village of Shakardara.
Speaking to reporters, Afzal Gujar claimed that the attackers continued firing for nearly one and a half hours, but no one came to help them during that period.He said that his house was damaged in the firing and that several of his vehicles were also set on fire by the attackers.The police spokesperson said that an investigation was underway and that authorities were examining various aspects of the case to identify and arrest the accused.
