KHAR: The district administration in Bajaur has launched a crackdown against transporters allegedly charging excessive fares, as part of efforts to ensure compliance with officially approved transport rates.
Acting on the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, the district administration conducted inspections of passenger fares at Nawagai Bypass to prevent overcharging by public transporters.
Additional Assistant Commissioner Nawagai, Habib ur Rehman, accompanied by Tehsildar Nawagai Alam Zeb and officials of the Bajaur Traffic Police, checked passenger vehicles during a roadside operation. Vehicles travelling between Bajaur and Peshawar, as well as those arriving from other districts, were inspected.During the operation, officials examined fare structures in motorcars, coaches and buses. Passengers were also asked regarding the fares they had been charged.
