WANA: The newly-elected Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly, Ameeruddin Burki, on Sunday called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to release pending cheques for press clubs in the merged districts, including Kanigram Press Club, and announce a special financial package for them.
Talking to the Kanigram Press Club, he said journalists in the merged districts, particularly in Upper South Waziristan, were facing serious challenges in performing their professional duties due to prolonged and frequent power outages.
He stated that the lack of electricity had adversely affected the functioning of press clubs and disrupted journalistic activities. Therefore, he said, the provision of solar energy systems to all press clubs in the merged districts, especially those in Upper South Waziristan, had become an urgent necessity.
Burki urged the provincial government to announce the provision of solar systems for press clubs in the merged districts so that journalists could carry out their responsibilities more effectively and in line with modern professional requirements.He called on the provincial government to take immediate and practical measures for the welfare of journalists and the development of press clubs across the merged districts.
