Embezzlement to the tune of Rs6 billion has reportedly been revealed in the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit Project (BRT) project.

The Sindh chief secretary has issued orders for an inquiry into financial irregularities in the project.

According to sources, more than Rs6 billion has been misappropriated in the BRT project and the authorities have summoned former project director Zameer Abbasi, Director Procurement Jamandas, Project Director Kamal Hakim and Deputy Director Taha Aziz over the corruption report.

Sindh Senior Minister for Transport Sharjeel Memon has reportedly instructed the officers to bring all record related to the Yellow Line project.

According to Memon, former project director of Yellow Line Abbasi made an advance payment against the rules. The transport secretary has written a letter to the chief secretary to take action over the corruption allegations.
