Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid on Saturday strongly condemned the alleged financial scandal in the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), describing it as highly shameful.

In a statement, the PTI leader said that leaked payroll documents from April 2026 had exposed what he termed deep-rooted corruption within the institution, raising serious public concern.

He alleged that, under the guise of reforms, merit was completely disregarded in favour of preferred individuals, while new posts were created overnight. He further claimed that some corporation officers were drawing salaries higher than those of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, placing an additional burden of millions of rupees on the national exchequer.

He lamented that while Karachi residents struggled for every drop of water amid worsening water supply and sewerage conditions, certain officials continue to enjoy what he described as royal privileges at the public’s expense.

Criticising Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Khalid questioned how he could overlook such alleged corruption and demanded an immediate inquiry into the appointments in question.

The PTI leader also expressed deep outrage over an incident in Jacobabad in which, he alleged, an influential feudal landlord forced a young man and his elderly mother to touch his feet over a minor social media comment.

Khalid said that “Vadera Shahi” (feudal tyranny) prevailed in Sindh instead of the rule of law, alleging that the provincial government had failed to curb the influence of powerful landlords. He further claimed that under the PPP rule, the lives and dignity of poor citizens remained vulnerable and subject to an oppressive system.

The PTI Karachi general secretary urged the Sindh police chief and other relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the incident, arrest those responsible, and ensure justice is served.

He assured that PTI stood firmly with the affected family and would continue to raise its voice until justice was delivered.
