LAHORE:Police have arrested eight suspects after a group of armed men allegedly stormed into a pharmacy and assaulted staff members in the Kahna area.

Around 14 individuals armed with sticks and clubs attacked a pharmacy located near Puras Ram Stop following a dispute that had occurred between the pharmacy owner and the suspects a few days earlier.

The incident was reported through the emergency helpline 15, prompting a response from Kahna police, who managed to apprehend eight suspects involved in the attack. During the attack, pharmacy employees were subjected to violence while the premises also sustained damage. Mobile phone footage of the incident reportedly shows the suspects engaged in physical assault, vandalism and smashing glass fixtures inside the pharmacy. Police said the main suspect, identified as Ali, allegedly struck a man named Sohail with the butt of a pistol, causing serious injuries. The victim was shifted to hospital and is stated to be out of danger.

A case was registered against the arrested suspects. SP Model Town said that strict action would be taken against those involved in attacks that threaten public safety, he added.

Suspect escapes custody re-arrested

A suspect who escaped from police custody at a court complex was rearrested within hours following a search operation launched by Lahore Police. The suspect, identified as Shan, fled from the court lock-up after being brought from Camp Jail for a court appearance in connection with a case registered at Iqbal Town police station. Police said a search operation was launched after authorities received information about the escape. Additional case was registered over his escape from custody.
