KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has invited Italian businesses and investors to partner with the Sindh government in key development sectors, including renewable energy, water management, infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing and technology, saying that Sindh offers immense opportunities for investment and sustainable growth.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a reception hosted by the Italian consulate at a local hotel in Karachi on Thursday evening to celebrate National Day of the Italian Republic. The event was attended by Consul of Italy Fabrizio Bielli, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, government officials and representatives of civil society.
Extending warm congratulations to the government and people of Italy on behalf of the government and people of Sindh, the CM said Pakistan and Italy enjoyed a longstanding relationship built on mutual respect, shared values and decades of constructive cooperation.
“Italy has been an important partner in Pakistan’s development journey and Italian expertise has contributed significantly to landmark infrastructure projects that helped shape our nation’s progress,” he said.
Highlighting Sindh’s position as Pakistan’s economic hub, the CM said the province offered a conducive environment for international investment and public-private partnerships. He invited Italian companies to explore investment opportunities in Sindh and collaborate on projects that promoted sustainable development and economic growth.
Shah noted that the relationship between Pakistan and Italy extended beyond trade and investment, encompassing strong cultural, educational and people-to-people ties. He said both countries shared a rich cultural heritage, strong family values, and a deep appreciation for history, art and craftsmanship.
The CM welcomed the growing educational links between the two countries and noted that an increasing number of Pakistani students were pursuing higher education in Italy. He also acknowledged the contribution of the vibrant Pakistani community in Italy, describing it as a bridge that continued to strengthen friendship and understanding between the two nations.
Commending the Consulate of Italy in Karachi, Shah appreciated the efforts of the consul and his team in promoting bilateral cooperation in trade, culture, education and investment.
Expressing confidence in the future of Pakistan-Italy relations, Shah said the partnership between Sindh and Italy would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead through enhanced cooperation, dialogue and mutual understanding.
