KARACHI: A court has sent three suspects, including a woman and her two sons, to jail on judicial remand in a narcotics case. Shireen Bibi and her sons Salman Gul and Kamran were arrested during a raid on their flat in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on June 2 for alleged possession and sale of narcotics.
The investigation officer (IO) produced the suspects before an East judicial magistrate and sought their physical remand in police custody until June 16 for interrogation and completion of legal formalities.
After hearing the IO, the magistrate remanded the suspects in judicial custody with a direction to the police officer to submit a charge sheet against them within the stipulated time. An FIR was lodged at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station under the Sections 9(I) and 3(c) of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024.
According to the FIR, a police party, engaged in routine patrol, received information about a woman and her two sons allegedly involved in drug peddling in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Acting on this information, the police raided their flat in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 10 and recovered a packet of charas from the bedside table in Bibi’s room. The packed weighed 1,050 grammes, police said, adding that another packets containing 1080 grammes and 1060 grammes of charas were recovered from the rooms of Gul and Kamran respectively.
