CHARSADDA: Six men allegedly impersonating officials of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) were arrested at the District Food Office here when staff grew suspicious of their activities, officials said on Thursday.
The officials said that the suspects had visited the Alkhidmat Foundation hospital in Charsadda, where they questioned the administration about facilities and management affairs while claiming to be anti-corruption personnel. They later arrived at the District Food Office, where staff became suspicious and immediately contacted the Anti-Corruption Department.
The anti-corruption officials reached the scene and took all six suspects into custody before presenting them before the Deputy Commissioner of Charsadda.Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had been visiting various public and private institutions in the district for several days, allegedly impersonating government officials and extorting money from people. Officials said some of the arrested persons were associated with the Civil Defence Department.The suspects were identified as Hanif, Uzair Ahmad, Zakaullah, Aqib Alam, Marjan Ali, and Zubair, all residents of the area.
