KOHAT: The Food Safety Authority in Kohat destroyed thousands of liters of fake soft drinks, counterfeit mineral water and large quantities of substandard food products seized during enforcement actions, an official said on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Kamran Khan Yousafzai, deputy director Food Safety Authority, said that over the last three months, food safety teams had confiscated 20,000 liters of fake soft drinks and mineral water of various brands.
In addition, he said, around 300 kilograms of substandard food items, including papad, digestive powders, China salt, betel nuts and other unsafe products were also destroyed.He said Gul Rehman Marwat and Khalid Khanand other officials of the authority, conducted the operation in various areas.
Kamran said the authority would not allow anyone to endanger public health and warned that strict action against those involved in the production and sale of substandard food products would continue.
