Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) to review the performance and capacity-building initiatives of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
Officials said the meeting was attended by senior police officers, including the additional IG CTD, DIG Headquarters, DIG CTD, SSPs CTD, AIG Administration, and other relevant officials. During the meeting, the CTD DIG presented a comprehensive briefing on the department’s performance, intelligence-gathering efforts, counterterrorism operations, coordination with other law enforcement agencies, and the use of modern technology and equipment in ongoing investigations and operations.
According to the briefing, enhanced intelligence collection and timely preventive measures during the current year have contributed significantly to a reduction in terrorist activities across Sindh. Participants expressed satisfaction over the decline in terrorism-related incidents and commended the professional performance of CTD personnel.
IGP Odho termed the overall performance of the CTD and its ongoing anti-terrorism operations as satisfactory. He directed officers to continue counterterrorism measures and preventive operations with the same commitment, strategic focus, and operational effectiveness.
The Sindh police chief emphasized the need to further strengthen coordinated intelligence-based operations against banned organizations, criminal networks, their facilitators, and elements operating from abroad. He instructed officials to ensure the timely sharing of information regarding proscribed groups among Sindh police and other law enforcement agencies to enhance preventive measures and facilitate swift action.
Odho also directed authorities to expand legal action against social media accounts and handlers involved in spreading fear and panic, disseminating anti-state propaganda, and promoting or supporting terrorist elements. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening counterterrorism efforts and maintaining law and order across the province.
