District Keamari’s investigation police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman after luring her with the promise of ration assistance. Police said the woman has filed a complaint against Saifullah and his alleged accomplice Abdul Razzaq, accusing them of sexual assault and intimidation.
She said Nasreen, a woman she knew, had taken her to Saifullah’s shop in Baldia Town’s 24 Market, adding that Nasreen assured her that Saifullah was a trustworthy person who could help arrange ration and other assistance.
The complainant said that during the meeting Saifullah called his friend Razzaq and asked her to sit in their vehicle. Believing that she was being taken to receive ration support, she went with the two men.
She said the suspects drove her to an isolated area near the dirt track of Hawkes Bay, where Razzaq pulled out a pistol to threaten her, then raped her. She added that Saifullah also raped her inside the vehicle. The complainant said the suspects had recorded videos of her during the incident, adding that after the sexual assault, they handed her Rs2,000 and abandoned her on Hub River Road, then fled the scene. Following the registration of the case, the Keamari investigation police conducted raids that resulted in Saifullah’s arrest. Police said efforts are under way to arrest Razzaq.
