LAHORE:Punjab Police have finalised comprehensive security arrangements for the Pakistan-Australia One-Day International match to be played at Gaddafi Stadium.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem directed DIG Operations Lahore to ensure foolproof security for the teams, match officials, cricket fans and citizens, while the Chief Traffic Officer was instructed to maintain smooth traffic management around the venue.

The IGP said more than 8,000 police personnel would be deployed to provide security during the match. He also ordered enhanced patrolling by the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force.

Abdul Kareem directed authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of the teams’ accommodation venues, travel routes and the stadium surroundings through CCTV cameras. Snipers will also be deployed along the teams’ routes, on high-rise buildings, at Gaddafi Stadium and other key locations.

He instructed all officers and personnel to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on suspicious elements. Cricket fans will be allowed entry to the stadium only after passing through a three-tier security and screening process.

Meanwhile, the Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) has finalised comprehensive cleanliness arrangements at Gaddafi Stadium.Acting on the directions of Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahib Din, more than 250 sanitation workers, eight washer vehicles, two water bowzers and mechanical sweepers have been deployed at and around the stadium.
