LAHORE:Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan distributed sacrificial meat, Eid gifts and cheques of financial help among the war affected Palestinian families and children in Egypt.
Alkhidmat Foundation President Dr Hafeez ur Rehman met with orphaned children, widows and displaced Palestinian families currently residing in Egypt under the organisation’s support programme.
He spent Eid with orphaned children and displaced families affected by Gaza war, reaffirming solidarity with Palestinians and overseeing the organisation’s Qurbani operations in Egypt. President of Pakistan Medical Association (PIMA) Dr Atif Hafeez Siddiqui and representatives of Alkhidmat Norway also accompanied him during the visit.
Following Eid prayers at a central mosque in Egypt’s Rehab area, the delegation visited slaughter houses established near the Gaza border in strategic Egyptian cities, including Ras Gharib and Nobaria. Dr Hafeez Ur Rehman formally inaugurated the Qurbani project by sacrificing a ram for the people of Gaza.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed arrangements related to slaughtering, meat processing, packaging and transportation to ensure the safe delivery of meat to affected families in Gaza. A special luncheon was later organised for orphaned children and displaced Gazans.
Dr Hafeez added that, with the support of donors in Pakistan, the organisation had arranged the sacrifice of 950 animals this year for the war affected Palestinians, enabling displaced families to share in the joys of Eid despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Dr Hafeez informed that besides Egypt, Alkhidmat had also arranged Qurbani for Gaza victims in Al-Quds (Jerusalem), the West Bank and Lebanon, while limited sacrifices were also carried out inside Gaza, where fresh meat was distributed among families in war-affected areas.
