The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) immigration officers offloaded a female passenger attempting to travel to Oman after allegedly presenting fake marriage documents during immigration clearance, according to an FIA spokesperson.
Kiran Manzoor was travelling on a Pakistani passport and a relative joining (resident) visa for Oman. During immigration clearance, the woman claimed that she had married Pakistani citizen Sajawal, who is currently residing in Oman.
However, FIA officials found the marriage certificate presented by the passenger to be suspicious. The spokesperson said the QR code and barcode printed on the document could not be verified during scrutiny.
The woman said her marriage had taken place a year ago, but she failed to provide basic information regarding her alleged husband and in-laws. Officials also found several contradictions in her statements and supporting documents during questioning.
Based on the suspicious documents and unsatisfactory responses, the immigration officers offloaded the passenger and shifted her to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for further legal action.
