LAHORE:Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore organised a special ceremony at Expo Centre Lahore to commemorate the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Provincial Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Chinese Consul General Sun Yan attended the event as guests of honour. Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin and ManshaUllah Butt, Chairman PHA GhazaliSaleem Butt, MD Raja Mansoor Ahmad, along with Pakistani and Chinese guests from various walks of life, were also present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering,Chinese Consul General Sun Yan reiterated China’s continued support for Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as cooperation in counter-terrorism and efforts to promote regional and international engagement. He said both countries remain committed to shared development and upholding international law.
Sun Yan highlighted the enduring partnership and expanding cooperation between the two countries. He said Pakistan was among the first countries to recognise the People’s Republic of China and the first Islamic country to establish diplomatic relations with Beijing on May 21, 1951. He noted that over the past 75 years, both nations have maintained close ties, supporting each other through periods of prosperity and hardship, and developing what he described as an “ironclad brotherhood.” He said the relationship has been tested during difficult times, citing mutual assistance during natural disasters such as the Wenchuan earthquake in China and floods in Pakistan. Such cooperation has strengthened mutual trust and made the bilateral relationship a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between countries with different systems and civilizations.
