A man and his wife were shot dead after armed men opened fire on their car near the RCD Ground in Saudabad, Malir, on Monday.
According to police, the victims were identified as 20-year-old Nadia and 25-year-old Najeehullah. Police reached the scene and shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police said the couple had contracted a love marriage, following which a case had been registered at the Sachal police station against the woman’s father and other individuals.
Investigators said the woman’s father had earlier been arrested and presented before a court, but was later released after the marriage certificate was produced. According to investigators, the deceased man belonged to Dadu district, while the woman hailed from Larkana district.
The couple had reportedly arrived at a Malir court to record their statements under the Section 164 before the attack took place. Police said CCTV footage of the incident had been obtained and investigations are under way.
