DC reviews forest fire response, rescue operations

Islamabad : Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) visited the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board’s Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre along with 3 senior officials, where authorities briefed the administration on forest fire response measures, wildlife rescue operations and emergency coordination efforts in the federal capital.

The visit was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters, Assistant Commissioner Secretariat and Assistant Commissioner City.

Officials of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) welcomed the delegation and provided a detailed briefing on the management of forest areas and wildlife protection activities.

During the briefing, wildlife officials informed the DC about the ongoing firefighting measures being used in forest and range areas to control and prevent fire incidents.

Authorities explained the steps being taken to improve monitoring systems, emergency response and coordination between departments during fire emergencies.

Officials also shared details about the available resources used to respond to forest fires, including emergency response mechanisms, field staff deployment and equipment used during rescue and firefighting operations.

The DC reviewed the preparedness of departments responsible for protecting forest land and wildlife habitats in Islamabad.

The delegation also reviewed the operations of the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.

Wildlife officials briefed the administration on the procedures followed for the rescue, treatment and rehabilitation of injured and rescued wild animals.

Authorities explained how rescued animals are shifted to rehabilitation facilities where they receive medical treatment and care before being released back into suitable environments.

Officials also briefed the delegation on different animal care and rehabilitation centres operating under the management of the board.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the measures being taken for the protection of forests and wildlife in the federal capital.
