PESHAWAR: The Accountability Court on Saturday rejected the bail application of an accused arrested in the Kohistan financial scandal involving alleged embezzlement of Rs3.5 billion.

The bail plea was heard by Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Zafar.

During the hearing, counsel for the accused informed the court that his client was a contractor who had been arrested in connection with the Kohistan financial scandal.

He said that the accused was alleged to have received financial transactions amounting to Rs3.5 billion in his bank account and was currently in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The lawyer argued that the accused was suffering from health issues and prayed the court to grant bail on medical grounds.
