LAHORE: The Punjab government has introduced comprehensive mandatory guidelines for deputy commissioners regarding submission of claims before the Claims Review Committee (CRC) and the Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Law and Order (SCCLO), aimed at strengthening financial oversight and streamlining expenditure processing related to law and order arrangements.
Issued by the Punjab Home Department, the directives warn district administrations against delays, procedural violations and financial irregularities in claims related to security deployments, special events and law and order operations. Officials noted that frequent late submissions and procedural lapses were causing administrative inefficiencies and delaying scrutiny and settlement of claims. Formulated on the direction of SCCLO in its 52nd meeting held on May 8, the policy seeks to enhance accountability, transparency and fiscal discipline in public expenditure. Under the new framework, all claims must be submitted to the Internal Security Wing within four weeks of event completion, and late submissions will not be entertained without prior approval from the CRC.
