Rawalpindi : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Amir Khattak has directed the establishment of district-level control rooms across the division to ensure immediate resolution of civic issues, including sanitation, during Eid-ul-Azha.

The control rooms will operate 24/7 to address citizen complaints and monitor cleanliness arrangements. Khattak also ordered that salaries of all government employees and workers be paid before Eid so they can celebrate without financial constraints.

The instructions were issued at a meeting at the Municipal Complex Rawalpindi on Friday. Additional Commissioner Coordination Zenia Humayun, Director Local Government Sibtain Kazmi and heads of relevant departments attended.

The meeting reviewed arrangements for cleanliness, security, traffic management, emergency response, and timely disposal of sacrificial animal waste.

Khattak directed that a dedicated control room be set up in each district with relevant officers on duty to respond to complaints without delay. He instructed police to ensure foolproof security at sensitive locations, cattle markets, entertainment venues, mosques, imambargahs and main highways, and to deploy additional personnel where needed.

A special traffic plan will be implemented during the Pakistan-Australia matches to prevent congestion. Traffic police, district administration and other agencies were asked to coordinate to maintain smooth flow.

Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, the Health Department and other emergency services were put on high alert. Khattak ordered mock drills and said hospitals should declare emergency cover with medicines, doctors and staff available at all times.

To prevent bird hazard incidents, the administration was told to ensure timely garbage disposal around airports and airbases.

Under the Clean Punjab programme, special sanitation drives will run on all three days of Eid. Waste management companies, municipal bodies and field staff will remain on duty with restricted leave. The commissioner instructed officers to supervise arrangements in the field and use all available resources to facilitate the public. “Citizen facilitation and law and order are the administration’s top priorities. No negligence will be tolerated,” he said.
