The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh has warned individuals and organisations against operating private schools without obtaining mandatory registration from the relevant authority, saying legal action would be taken against violators under the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Ordinance.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, Additional Director Registration Rafia Mallah said it had been observed that several individuals were establishing and operating schools without fulfilling legal requirements and without securing prior registration from the Directorate.
The statement noted that running an unregistered institution was a violation of the law and could adversely affect students’ academic future and educational standards. Parents were advised to verify the registration status of schools before enrolling their children.
According to the Directorate, private educational institutions are required to meet prescribed standards relating to infrastructure, qualified teaching staff, administrative arrangements, safety measures and educational facilities before registration can be granted.
The press release further stated that institutions must ensure proper classrooms, sanitation, clean drinking water, libraries, laboratories, playgrounds and security arrangements. Schools have also been directed to maintain attendance records, fee registers and other official documentation in accordance with the law.
The Directorate warned that institutions found operating without registration could face fines, closure and other legal proceedings under the relevant laws. It urged all school operators to immediately complete the registration process to avoid punitive action.
