The Arts Council of Pakistan organized a condolence reference in memory of renowned broadcaster, writer and social activist Syed Abid Rizvi at Haseena Moin Hall.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Shah said organizing a condolence gathering in memory of loved ones is always a difficult experience. He described Syed Abid Rizvi as a compassionate, affectionate, and prayerful individual who would often call late at night to inquire about his well-being and offer prayers for him.
Shah noted that Rizvi’s spiritual devotion and sincerity were among the most distinctive aspects of his personality. He further stated that Syed Abid Rizvi had a deep association with literature, mushairas, and literary activities. During the early years of the World Urdu Conference, when resources were limited, he provided invaluable support, including hosting writers and poets visiting from India.
Prof Sahar Ansari said Rizvi was an energetic, talented, and intellectually refined personality with a deep appreciation for literature. Whether it was a book launch or a literary gathering, he participated in every activity with great enthusiasm, sincerity, and dedication.
Journalist Hassan Abbas said that he shared a deep bond of admiration and affection with Rizvi. Whenever he travelled for Umrah, Rizvi would warmly request prayers and send messages of goodwill. Abbas remarked that the void created by his passing can never truly be filled. He recalled that Rizvi would spend long hours reading and writing late into the night and would regularly share his thoughts and articles with friends.
Renowned poet Dr Fatima Hassan said that Syed Abid Rizvi was a sincere friend, an excellent companion, and a caring brother. Their acquaintance began through literary activities in 1988 and gradually developed into a close friendship. They worked together in numerous mushairas and traveled together on many occasions.
Syed Sohail Rizvi, son of the late Syed Abid Rizvi, said his father had a deep passion for knowledge and literature and selflessly supported and assisted students whenever possible. Serving people and guiding them was a natural part of his character. He was an exemplary personality and a role model for us all. He said he was grateful to Ahmed Shah and his team for organizing this memorial gathering.
Owais Adeeb Ansari said that the way Syed Abid Rizvi transformed Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu and helped establish it as a respected institution is evident to everyone. The traditions of Lucknow’s culture, grace, courtesy, and hospitality were deeply reflected in his personality. People with such sincerity, affection, and respect for humanity are rare to find.
