Punjab, Denmark agree to enhance cooperation in green initiatives

LAHORE : The Punjab government and Denmark have agreed to enhance cooperation in green initiatives and waste-to-energy projects for environmental protection.

This development came during a meeting between Danish Ambassador to Pakistan Ms Maja Mortensen and Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique. Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian and a delegation of Danish investors were also present at the meeting held at the Punjab Civil Secretariat here on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue their contacts in the future, while discussions were also held on the production of Refused Derived Fuel (RDF) and organic products.

Danish Ambassador Maja Mortensen congratulated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on the launch and success of the Suthra Punjab programme, saying that Denmark attaches great importance to environmentally friendly initiatives. She said, ‘We are reviewing cooperation in the Waste to Value programme in Punjab’.
