ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) has announced a countrywide protest on Friday against inflation, sharp increases in petroleum prices, law and order issues, and for the immediate transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to hospital, along with the release of political prisoners.

The decision was taken at a late-night meeting of opposition leaders, chaired by TTAP Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai and attended by representatives of PTI and allied parties. The participants expressed concern over rising inflation, unemployment, load-shedding and governance challenges, and criticised what they called worsening economic conditions and an IMF-linked budget approach.

The meeting also demanded the release of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi and other political detainees, and called for proper medical access for the PTI founder.

The alliance announced nationwide demonstrations on Friday across district headquarters and said the protest movement would continue.

Separately, PTI leaders warned they would not allow the legislature to function if what they termed unfair treatment of the opposition continues. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan, however, stressed that political issues should be resolved through dialogue, urging that negotiation channels remain open and access be provided to Imran Khan and his family.
