Late on Saturday night, an attack took place in the SITE Superhighway area when armed men opened indiscriminate fire at a police mobile in which two policemen were injured.
The SHO of the Site Super Highway Industrial Area, Chaudhry Nawaz, was also present in the police mobile, who remained safe, while the suspects fled the scene.
Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident and sought a report from the DIG East Range.
Two policemen -- Head Constable Kashif and Constable Jansar -- were injured when motorcycle-riding suspects fired on the police mobile near the Jamali Bridge. They were taken to hospital for immediate medical attention.
DSP Sohrab Goth Aurangzeb Khattak said SHO Site Super Highway Chaudhry Nawaz was passing in a police mobile along with policemen when the suspects opened fire on the police mobile, as a result of which two policemen were injured.
It has been reported that one of the motorcycle-borne suspects was wearing a helmet while the other was wearing a cap. The police summoned the Crime Scene Unit and obtained evidence from the scene and started raids to arrest the suspects.
According to a Sindh police spokesperson, the IGP said the best medical treatment facilities should be provided to the injured cops, while picketing, patrolling and snap checking should be increased in the area.
