The District Korangi police have arrested a suspect involved in the harassment of a woman after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Officials said the suspect was apprehended within 12 hours during a targeted operation carried out in the Awami Colony area. Investigators revealed that the suspect attempted to evade arrest by changing his appearance. He allegedly shaved his beard in an effort to hide his identity and mislead police teams searching for him.
Despite such efforts, the authorities successfully traced his whereabouts using a combination of CCTV footage, technical evidence and intelligence-based information. Police identified the arrested man as Muhammad Danish, son of Muhammad Nasir.
Officials said teams worked continuously after the video surfaced online, collecting evidence and monitoring possible locations to ensure that the suspect was brought into custody without delay.
The Korangi senior superintendent of police condemned the incident, stating that such behaviour was unacceptable in a society that valued the dignity and honour of women. He asserted that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in crimes targeting women or violating public safety.
Following the arrest, the accused is being handed over to the Investigation Department for further legal proceedings and detailed inquiry. Authorities stated that additional aspects of the case are being examined, while reaffirming their commitment to taking immediate action against harassment and ensuring justice for victims through lawful measures.
