4m families assisted through Ramazan package: Maryam

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in her message on the International Day of Families, has urged people to renew their commitment to love, respect and strong family ties, stating that family is the greatest source of strength and happiness.

She said the objective of observing the International Day of Families was to highlight the importance of family in society and promote awareness regarding the value of family life. “Family is not just a word, but another name for love, sincerity and true companionship,” she said.

The chief minister prayed that every family always remain safe and united and that mutual love and affection continue to flourish. She termed family the first institution of learning and the foundation of moral values, adding that life’s challenges become easier when families stand together. She said respect for elders, proper upbringing and education of children, and fulfilling every relationship with sincerity are essential elements of an ideal family. She remarked that every member of her family is her most valuable asset and described family support as her greatest strength and happiness.

Highlighting the Punjab government’s welfare measures, the chief minister said assistance has been extended to four million families through the Ramazan Nigehban Package during Ramazan, while deserving families received aid at their doorsteps. She said a financial assistance of Rs10,000 each was provided to millions of families during Ramazan, while more than 1.4 million families have been facilitated through ration cards.
