ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has granted a final deadline until May 20 to the lawyers representing former prime minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case to present their arguments.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif issued a written order following the hearing. According to the order, counsel Salman Safdar requested an adjournment in order to seek instructions from Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) opposed the request for adjournment. The court noted that at the previous hearing, the parties had been directed to ensure their attendance and present arguments on the appeals. However, instead of proceeding with arguments, Salman Safdar filed an adjournment application on what the court described as weak grounds.
The written order stated that the main appeals had been filed by Salman Safdar himself and, considering the sensitivity and importance of the case, the court was granting a last and final opportunity.
The bench directed Salman Safdar to take all necessary steps and present arguments on the appeals at the next hearing scheduled for May 20.
