KOHAT: Militants on Thursday shot dead a man in the mountainous village of Swairi Banda in Kohat district on Thursday, police officials said.
They said the assailants entered the house of Saifullah and opened indiscriminate fire on him. The victim, the officials said, attempted to resist the attackers, but the militants outnumbered him and managed to kill him at his residence.
The assailants also took away his gun and vehicle before setting his hujra on fire and fleeing the area.Following the incident, police and security agencies launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to arrest those involved in the attack. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the killing. TTP spokesperson Umar Khorasani said that the victim was working as an informer for security forces.
