Foreigners keen to invest in Pakistan, says governor

LAHORE:Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has said that Pakistan has joined the top countries in terms of defence. New Constitutional amendments are necessary, but should be in accordance with the spirit of the 1973 Constitution. He said that LG elections and student union elections should also be held.

Governor briefed the media persons on his two-year performance during a press conference here Thursday at Governor’s House.Governor said that when he assumed office, appeals from universities had been pending for two years. Now, in 2026, those issues have been resolved and universities are also performing better in the QS rankings. He added that appeals pending for three years with the Provincial Ombudsman have also been disposed of. With the support of welfare organisations, blood banks and dialysis centres have been established in Fateh Jang and Hassan Abdal. Medical camps were also organised in Chiniot, Chakwal and Hafizabad with the help of philanthropists. He said that transgenders were provided health cards, worth up to Rs500,000.

He said that foreign investors are keen to invest in Pakistan, we need to gain the trust of investors. The amendment to the traffic fines bill in Punjab is a good step, he said and commended the Punjab government for it. Earlier, a delegation comprising senior civil service officers of Bangladesh called on Governor Sardar Saleem Haider at the Governor’s House. The meeting discussed ways to further promote bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.
