KARACHI: Pakistan has entered the list of the top 10 exporters of truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres to markets including the United States and Brazil, driven by rising local production and exports led by Service Long March Tyres Ltd (SLM), the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Industry data shows Pakistani tyre exports have gained momentum in recent years, with the US and Brazil emerging as key destinations.SLM, which began operations in 2022, has expanded exports to markets including South Africa and Egypt. The company said compliance with international quality and regulatory standards had supported access to regulated markets such as the US and Brazil, the statement read.
Pakistan’s annual demand is estimated at around 1.7 million units in the truck and bus segment and about 7 million units for passenger vehicles. Imports have historically dominated the market, though local manufacturers are increasingly replacing imported supply.
SLM currently produces about 1.6 million TBR tyres annually and plans to raise capacity to 2 million units by July 2026 and 2.2 million units by June 2027. The company estimates its domestic TBR market share at 58 per cent.
