KARACHI: L’Oreal Pakistan has localised the sourcing of sodium laureth sulphate (SLES), a key raw material used in shampoo production, as part of efforts to reduce import dependence and strengthen its domestic supply chain, a statement said on Thursday.

The company said it had onboarded Tufail Chemical Industries Ltd as a local supplier following a qualification process aligned with L’Oreal’s global standards. It added that the move forms part of its broader localisation strategy aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and supporting domestic manufacturing capability.

“This achievement demonstrates our trust in Pakistani industry and its technical capability,” said Rehan Saeed, executive general manager at L’Oreal Pakistan. The company said local sourcing would help reduce logistics-related emissions and improve lead times for manufacturing operations.

The development comes as multinational companies operating in Pakistan increasingly explore local sourcing options to manage costs, reduce import exposure and improve supply chain resilience.
