QUETTA: Gwadar Port is moving steadily towards becoming a global transshipment hub as the international cargo vessel MV YUAN HANG WEI YE has anchored at Gwadar Port carrying transshipment cargo.
According to details, another significant development has emerged in international transshipment operations at Gwadar Port, where the vessel has arrived to offload cargo destined for Abu Dhabi and Kuwait. The arrival is being described as a clear sign of Gwadar Port’s growing commercial and transit importance.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry welcomed the development and stated that the government is taking practical measures to transform Gwadar Port into a major regional trade and transshipment hub. He added that the increasing global shipping activity at Gwadar Port is a positive indicator for Pakistan’s economy, transit trade, and investment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Chairman Gwadar Port Noor-ul-Haq Baloch said that the arrival of transshipment cargo reflects growing international confidence in Gwadar Port. He noted that following recent incentive policies and reductions in port charges, interest from global shipping companies has increased.
He further said that Gwadar Port is being upgraded in line with modern requirements and is being developed into an important trade corridor of the region. He expressed hope that Gwadar Port will prove to be an effective gateway not only for Pakistan but also for Central Asia, Gulf countries, and global trade in the future.
