ISLAMABAD: The Banking Court in Islamabad on Monday adjourned proceedings in the foreign funding case against the founder of PTI and other accused without taking any substantive action.

The hearing was conducted by Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar, with Special Prosecutor Wasiq Malik and PTI counsel Fatehullah Burki appearing before the court. During the proceedings, Judge Kakar said the challan in the foreign funding case was currently under scrutiny. He added that the court would also announce its decision on the bail applications of co-accused Siraj Ahmed and Faisal Qazi at the next hearing. The court adjourned the case until May 21.

Previously, the court had reserved its verdict on the pre-arrest bail applications filed by the accused. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered the foreign funding case against the founder of PTI and several other accused.

In a separate case, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain extended the physical remand of suspects arrested in the murder case of businessman Amir Awan in the federal capital for another four days. Police presented the accused before the court after the expiry of their previous remand and sought further custody for interrogation.

Prosecutor Naveed Hussain Kayani informed the court that the accused had already undergone physical examination and polygraph testing. He argued that further interrogation was necessary and requested a 14-day physical remand for all five accused. After hearing the arguments, the court granted a four-day physical remand and directed police to present the accused again after the remand period ends. The murder case of businessman Amir Awan is registered at Shahzad Town police station.
