ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives for the expedited completion of Safe City Phase-II and the comprehensive modernisation of its central control room to transition Islamabad into a “Capital Smart City.”
During a high-level progress review at the Safe City Headquarters, the minister emphasised that the facility must be upgraded to meet contemporary technological standards. He underscored the urgency of the project, instructing authorities to ensure that Phase-II is finalised within the timeframe.
Naqvi highlighted that the initiative is designed to integrate all relevant security and administrative institutions onto a single digital platform, describing the move as a critical milestone in fostering a secure and peaceful environment for the residents of the federal capital.
While inspecting ongoing renovation and technical upgrades at the headquarters, the minister was briefed on the development of a new fusion centre and the installation of advanced systems within the control room. The digital infrastructure is projected to be fully operational by May 30. The session was attended by high-ranking officials, including the interior secretary, FIA DG and Islamabad IGP.
