The Sindh Universities and Boards Department has made interim arrangements for the Karachi and Hyderabad education boards by assigning additional charge to the heads of two other boards until regular chairmen are appointed.
According to a notification issued by Section Officer Daud Shah of the Universities and Boards Department, Chairman Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE) Karachi Musharaf Ali Rajput has been assigned additional charge of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK).
Similarly, Dr Asif Ali Memon, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Nawabshah, has been given additional charge of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad.
Both officers will perform these responsibilities in addition to their existing duties with immediate effect and until further orders. The notification stated that the appointments had been made with the approval of the competent authority under the relevant provisions of the Sindh Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance, 1972.
The two vacant posts will now be advertised formally and a search committee will select candidates for appointment as chairmen. Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the chief minister has also constituted a reform committee headed by former NED University vice chancellor Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi to propose improvements in Sindh’s education boards. The committee has been tasked with submitting its report within 60 days.
