MINGORA: At least five persons were killed and 10 others injured when a passenger van plunged into a ravine in Charbagh tehsil of Swat district on Sunday, rescue officials said.
The Rescue 1122 officials said medical teams and ambulances rushed to the scene soon after the accident was reported from Adu area in Charbagh. A total of 15 passengers, including women and children, were affected in the incident.
The rescue officials said five people died on the spot, while 10 others sustained injuries. Medical teams provided first aid to the injured before shifting them to a hospital in Manglawar. Some of the injured passengers were later referred to Saidu Central Hospital for further treatment due to their serious condition.
Sources said the victims belonged to the same family and were travelling from Adu to Ganajir in connection with a wedding ceremony when the vehicle met with the accident, apparently due to break failure.
